Basic Modules

MODULE  DISCOVERY

Discovering AI through Practice (Code MDECOU)

  • ​Brief presentation of the Artificial Intelligence field

  • Practical and directed use of all or part of the following AI products available today:​

    • Text Generation (e.g. ChatGPT)

    • Object recognition in images or videos

    • Handwritten writing recognition

    • Image generation from text

    • Automatic text translation in all languages

    • Speech recognition

    • Voice synthesis

  • Practical exercises with predefined objectives are followed by a session of feedback on the experiences made to discuss and reflect on what has been achieved.


MODULE  UNDERSTANDING

Understand the basic concepts of Deep Learning in AI (code - MCOMPR)

  • ​Synthetic presentation of Deep Learning (Deep Learning)
  • Working environment for AI​
    • Simple and "non-technical" presentation of the technologies required for the practical work of the module
      • Online virtual machine (e.g. Google Cloud Platform)
      • Python programming language and notion of "Notebook"
      • Jupyter Lab for interactive programming in Python
      • Central Processing Unit, Graphics Unit and Memory

    • Presentation of the example of handwritten writing recognition (i.e. MNIST) used in the module'écriture manuscrite (i.e. MNIST) utilisée dans le module
  • ​Comprehension, illustration and practice of the following basic concepts:
    • Classification, regression, layers, neuron, synaptic coefficient (or weight), activation function
    • Datasets (training, validation and test)
    • Efficiency of a neural network (cost function, accuracy, over or under learning)

    • Understanding the notion of ethics adapted to AI
    • ​Synthetic presentation of the main approaches for providing an ethical framework for the development of AI
      • proposals from major organizations (UNESCO, OECD, European Parliament/Council/Commission)
      • Presentation of the European AI Regulation (i.e. AI Act)

  • Society & AI
    • Presentation of the place of scientific and technological developments in the development of human society
    • Presentation of the current and expected impact of AI for the main sectors or professions
    • Presentation of the main adaptive skills to live well with AI
    • AI and preservation of the environment

  • Workshop on AI, Ethics and Society
    • After having seen, understood and discussed the notions of ethics in a world including artificial intelligence products, and the evolution and transformation of human activities, a practical workshop is proposed.
    • he practical workshop will allow:
      • to choose specific and individualized areas
      • to reflect on the concrete ethical issues that may arise
      • to see how these issues should be solved
      • to list specific and individualized professions
      • to reflect on the possible impacts of AI for these professions
      • to see why, when and how these professions and their actors could evolve with AI

ChatGPT - Usage


In this module, you will:

- Learn and practice the basics of large language models (LLMs)

​- Learn and practice how to use these LLMs to obtain an "optimal" response

- Learn to integrate such a tool 'correctly' into your everyday activities.


ChatGPT - Specialization


In this module, you will:

- learn to design and use large language models (LLMs) that are specialized to deal with your areas of interest.

ChatGPT - Startup


In this module, you will:

- Learn to use and specialize large language models (LLM)

- Define a flagship product for a startup project based on online services.

- Design and develop your product as a professional and innovative web application (node.js, react) leveraging AI services.
